How many lessons do we need for our first dance?
Most couples are happy with 5 to 8 lessons. If you want a simple, clean first dance that looks great, 5 lessons is usually enough. If you want full choreography with lifts, dips, or a song mashup, plan for 8 to 12. We’ll give you a clear recommendation after your free consultation.
How far in advance should we start lessons?
At least 6 to 8 weeks before your wedding. 3 months out is ideal because it gives you time to practice without pressure. Do not wait until the last 2 weeks. We see it happen and it adds unnecessary stress.
We have zero dance experience. Is that a problem?
No. Most of our wedding couples have never danced together before. Our instructors are trained to work with complete beginners and make you feel comfortable from the first lesson.
What dance style is best for a wedding first dance?
Waltz and Foxtrot are the most popular because they work with a wide range of songs and look elegant. Rumba works well for slower romantic songs. We help you pick the right style based on your song and comfort level.
Can we pick our own song?
Yes, always. Bring your song to the consultation and we will build the choreography around it. If your song needs to be edited, shortened, or faded for the dance floor, we offer that as an add-on service for a small fee.
What happens during the free consultation?
It is a 30-minute session where we learn about your song, your timeline, your goals, and your experience level. You also get a feel for the studio and meet your instructor. No pressure to buy anything on the spot.
Do we have to take lessons together or can one of us come alone?
Ideally, yes, both of you should attend together. Wedding dance lessons are about learning to move as a pair, lead, follow, and connect with each other on the dance floor.
That said, we understand life gets in the way. If one of you travels for work, lives out of town, or has a schedule that makes it hard to always come together, we can work around that with separate appointments. It takes a little more coordination, but couples do it successfully all the time.
The goal is getting you ready for your first dance. We will find a way to make it work.
What if we have two left feet and nothing is clicking?
That is what instructors are for. We break everything down into small steps and go at your pace. Nobody has ever walked out of here unable to dance their first dance.
Can the whole wedding party learn some moves?
Absolutely. We offer wedding party sessions where we teach everyone enough to have fun on the dance floor. Great for groups that want a surprise choreographed moment or just want to not look lost when the music starts.
What if we need to reschedule a lesson?
Life happens. We just ask for 24 hours notice to reschedule without any issue.
What should we wear to lessons?
Wear comfortable clothes you can move in. For shoes, ladies should ideally bring the exact shoes you plan to wear on your wedding day. Dancing in them during lessons means no surprises on the big day and your instructor can coach you specifically to how you move in those shoes. If you don’t have them yet, a low heel or sneakers work fine in the meantime. Avoid flip flops or heavy boots.
